Hello all,
I realise that this is rather early, but as I have been told that it can take a month or more to get the necessary papers to David Liddle, I thought that I would put an inquiry out to determine if the interest is there for a fall order to David Liddle for hoya cuttings. I just received a private email from a member of another hoya forum asking about a fall order from David, and figured now was a good a time as any to get a feel regarding interest or lack thereof.
I also thought that seeing as I am in Montana, and very close to the Canadian border, I would offer to meet anyone who would be interested in coordinating a Canadian exchange to ship on from there. I am not familiar with Canada, but am only a couple hours from Lethbridge if that helps (on my side as I don't have a current passport, and would rather spend that money on hoyas) .
I originally asked Ann if she would be planning a fall order, as greedy little hoya pig that I am, I right away saw cuttings that I SHOULD have gotten, when my spring cuttings arrived. Because Ann was planning on being in the middle of, or newly moved, she didn't know about an address for the import certificate, and suggested that I apply for the necessary stickers, and with her help, take over the coordination of this. I have not yet sent the papers to David, but have the import permit, and necessary stickers.
If there is anyone else who would rather do this, that is ok with me, as it doesn't cost anything to get the certificate, and I was waiting to determine interest before sending the documents on.
Nothing is binding, but would like to hear if interest is there.
Thanks a ton,
Sara
Is there interest in a Fall order to David Liddle?
Suggestion: I have found that cutting struck in the fall...especially from David where they are on the opposite end of the season cycle, can sometimes be dicey about rooting. I have decided only to order in our Spring...the cuttings root so much faster and healthier.
Carol
I'd be interested, Sara. Like you, I immediately saw the Hoyas I forgot to order as soon as I got my last shipment.
Our fall is David's spring, so shouldn't his plants be ready for their spring flush of growth in our fall? I would have thought the fall cuttings would be more vigorous than the spring ones. Maybe they just get confused.
I agree with Carol. Cuttings just do better for me at the beginning of a growing season, no matter where they come from. Also, if you order in the fall and there is a snap of very cold weather during shipping time, you could lose the whole order. I would be interested in the spring, though.
Thanks Mark, I do want to order, but only if the interest is there. I already had a list started, almost as soon as I looked at my cuttings, and then my friend's who ordered with me. However, due to increased hoya size, and my slowly loosing space, my DL orders are not really huge - last one only 6 cuttings. I think I would order more of the unidentified species this time around, as they have been pretty cool, and I will just have to make room.
I had no problem getting my fall cuttings to root - a friend and I took part in the fall order with Ms. Burton (I had committed before Ann placed her order), and we had almost 100% success. I lost one, but it was my fault, as I overwatered. I would say that my fall cuttings rooted and grew almost as fast as my cuttings that I just received this April.
I am receiving email from other forum members, that Ann directed my way, so I thought I would put it out there, so I could let them know re: degree of interest.
Thanks,
Sara

I would be interested to get put on the list as long as it is not late fall. September or October would be fine. I just don't want to take the chance on the cuttings freezing in November or December.
Doug
Doug,
I didn't look back at when Ann ordered, but I think if the order is in by mid August, then the plants would arrive before October. I am in MT, and the fall order I partook in arrived on October 2, none the worse for travel. Earlier is fine too, I will just need to get the stickers to David, and was waiting to gauge interest.
Thanks,
Sara
Edited to add: I went back and looked up the dates with Ann's fall order, and it looks like this: The cut off date for placing order to David Liddle was August 23, shipped from Australia Sept. 27, arrived at Ann's October 3rd. Hope this helps.

Sara,
Definitely count me in then, and put me on the list if the order takes place.
Thanks,
Doug
Please add my name to the list, also. Thanks!
Karen
OK..Count me in too!!! Is there a minimum to order????
Carol, I don't think that there has ever been a minimum.....perhaps I am wrong? I only got 5 last order, but my friend Helen ordered 12. Please keep in mind that Ann has been holding my hand through this, but from what she told me, it is VERY easy. I am just waiting to get David's address, so that I can get my stickers in the mail before I leave for a family reunion on Wed, but will be back in a week. She said then, I just address all of the priority mail boxes, open the boxes from David, slide the mesh bags of cuttings into the preaddressed boxes, and run to the P.O. Viola - 45 minutes or less. Now we will see if my degree that I am currently not using from the U of M will pay for itself or not!! HA!!
Cheers,
Sara
I'm still struggling with my cuttings from Carol. 27 doesn't sound like much until they arrive. LOL
Add me to the list, please. If I don't survive these you can delete me later.
Jeri
I want in too! THanks and God bless. -joanne
Please add me too.
Thanks,
Patti
Please add me too!! How can I get a hold of his list of plants?
Thanks!
Jen
I'd love to be added to the list as well. Thanks!! :)
Please add me to the list too. Thanks Teresa
Sara is there enough interest for you to do it?
Jeri
Me to...add to the list?
May as well add me too. Loved all my cuttings from Carol, and want to add to that collection.
Everything is on for the David Liddle order....I mailed to David what he needed from me last week before I went on vacation, and just got home tonight - 14 hours driving straight through from Reno to Great Falls - too long. Watered the plants that needed it, popped in to check emails, and am off to bed.
If anyone needs David's catalog, please D-mail me with your email address, and I will send it to you as an attatchment.
Sara
