Thanks, Jeanne. Yes, she has a delightful scent.

Gld, if I propagated this I would send you a wee one, but I
have not tried yet.

I think she has received more water this year and that is why the
blooms are so abundant. After we get the new vines planted, my
son will hook up a soaker hose for the Clematis I have along this
50' fence. He is the Official Clematis Hole Digger!

Gorgeous, Tara. Is that just one plant? I have one and got my first bloom this year. Loved it so much I have two more on order. I want to "do right" by the new ones. :)

Very lovely blooms on 'Betty Corning'. Her lovely scent is an extra bonus!

Side note: 'Betty Corning' gets huge, so make sure to give her plenty of room to grow!

Emmy, yes, one plant.

The back side, which hangs in the pups' yard, is just as full of blooms

My Betty Corning is on its second year and still small. Everyone says this one gets so big, but I'm confused how, if it gets cut down each year? This is my first time with clematis, so excuse if this is a silly question!

"Betty Corning " is a Viticella aka pruning group 3...she gets hard pruned and then new vines emerge from the leaf axil...Viticellas/pruning group 3's bloom on the new vines grown that season..remember clematis are the 1st year they "Sleep",2nd year they "Creep" and 3rd Year they "Leap"..so in time it will get large..and better with each passing year ....hope this helps...Jeanne

I'll certainly take your word for it, Jeanne, and I've seen a lot of the beautiful clematis everyone is growing.

We've heard this old adage before, regarding our native grape vine, Vitis californica "Roger's Red"; it's been four years now and we're still waiting for that leap! Looks healthy as can be, but poor Roger is still going at "mosey" speed. :-)

Thanks,

Kathleen
