Urgent Help Needed
What happened to it? Is it not growing out at the top?
Do you fertilize regularly? Water? Gently upend the pot and check the rootball. If the roots are white, then they are alive and well. You won't need to cut and root. If they are black or brown, they are toast. Cut along the stem and root the top part. You can also cut the leafless stem into 3" - 4" logs. Half bury them on their side in small pots. Moisten soil and place pot or pots in baggies until new growth starts. You can root the top portion in a small glass jar with ~ 4" of water to which a very small amount of hydrogen peroxide has been added or you can dip the end into a fungicide and plant in a small pot. Don't overwater. Resume normal watering schedule when you see new growth.
H.Peroxide strikes again...this is interesting new thing to me...is it so germs don't grow or what?
H2O2 adds an extra oxygen molecule to the water which aids in rooting and keeps existing roots happier.
Poor lilttle thing. I hope you can save it.
Hi floridagardner,
I rooted quite a few of my Brug cuttings by just putting them in water. Make sure to keep the water clean, and before you know it the cuttings will form white marks on the stem. I assume that is where the roots form. I usually plant them when they have the white marks (normal potting soil). Mine usually start forming new growth before the roots form. If your plant has flowered before, the cutting will continue doing so without any problems the next season. Brugs are very easy to root. I'm sure you will be successful!
Good luck,
Elsa
Elsa123 that is how I root mine also.
I find that a little bit of hydrogen peroxide helps cuttings roots a little bit faster. I have more success rooting in water than in soil.
Thank you all for the advise. I'm gonna give it my best shot. Really want to save this one. I'll attempt to keep a record of growth and keep everyone updated with progress. Thank you.
