Moretz, I would be very interested. Are you looking for shrubs in return? I have rooted lilac babies, double whites that are extremely fragrant and old fashioned light purple.

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

no not really but would love some kind of plants to go around my pond that would do good in mostly shade, but thxs though maybe you have something else in mind? plmk

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i want one. now moretz you are hard but i am going to do my best to entice you. lol.
would you want one of those hosta from "you know where"? they are liners....... elatior or blue mammoth? and if we do decide to trade do you still want those hanging baskets. i am sorry but i just forgot all about sending those. i figure the need has passed but just thought i would mention them in case you still want them. i am really behind with everything right now but i figure since you are going to root these that i have some time. if you don't want those hosta i can get you a list.

do you have a bicolor butterfly bush by any chance?

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

dmailed you thxs

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Let me see what I can scratch up. Oh, I know. I was going to divide my aruncus later this year. That would be glorious next to a pond and it loves shade. It's a wonderful plant. Japanese mondo grass, which I have growing next to my pond. Makes a nice edge softener and it also does very well in shade.

I have dark purple clustered bellflowers - everybody who sees them loves them. They thrive in shade.

I don't have any pond type plants but if you like honeysuckle I have some of the Variegated Honeysuckle that's been in the ground since last summer.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

hello moretz. your "giant white calla" is on the way. thanks again. barb

Shenandoah Valley, VA

The mondo hasn't gone anywhere. LOL Ready whenever you are but are they rooted enough to withstand this heat? I know the mondo will be fine. I can mail them on Monday or Tuesday. Can't get to the post office before then.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Still working on that variegated honeysuckle - if you need to trade with someone else - it's ok. I am interested but want to make sure you get a fair trade.

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

mamajack
so you was wanting one of th honeysuckles for it? sorry but we had so much going on i want to make sure lol and is your addy in the exchange? lol

hart
im not sure yet but we can wait if you like? i put some more cuttings in yesterday so i hope i can get them started for the others plmk what you would like for me to do wait? or send later?

Chantell
well how sweet np here i got some more cuttings started yesterday but these are small,so you dont have to do a big cuttings unless you want more then one but we can do it now or later, like i said i have more i am trying to root thxs

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I reckon it will be fine. Can you put a little moisture gel or wet peat moss around the roots? I don't know why they keep telling everyone here to mail plants with nothing more than a paper towel and plastic wrap. Most I've gotten that were sent that way were too dried out to live. And don't even get me started on that darned Press n Seal wrap, which does NOT hold moisture in. (Sorry for the ranting sidebar. ahem Back to the topic at hand. LOL)

Moretz, I found a baby Northern Sea Oats up by the upper pond. Would you like that as well? I say baby, it's probably 10-12 inches tall. It's a nice alternative to bamboo around the pond and gets beautiful seedheads in the late summer/fall. It looks a lot like bamboo, gets maybe 2.5-3 feet tall.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Melisa - it's up to you...if you have enough "takers" for the first bunch - I most certainly can wait...let me know your pref.

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

hart
yes i would love the sea oats thxs for asking, well i dont have neither to put around the plant roots what else would you like me to do?

Chantell
no its up to you,i can send either way,i want to make sure youre happy too ok? plmk and thxs

when was you all wanting me to send these? monday? plmk and thxs

Shenandoah Valley, VA

If it were me and I didn't have gel or peat or a little light potting soil I'd wrap the roots in several layers of soaking wet paper towels and secure them with a ziploc bag secured tightly at the top and not loose around the roots and paper towels. I usually use twist ties if they won't damage the stem of the plant.

The worst problems I've seen have been from people using one layer of damp paper towels wrapped with plastic wrap and secured with a little piece of scotch tape at the top. It does seem to help a lot if you then wrap the whole plant in a piece of dry newspaper and tape it closed.

Send whenever it's good for you. You can wait until mine arrive if you want, I'm in no hurry. The sea oats is yours.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

I love using the water absorbing crystals!!! I got some from that co-op and I had some still from Walmart (? maybe HD) last year). Only takes like 1/2 a teaspoon - soak em first then place around roots - then bag em'!! They're great! (sounds like Tony the tiger eh?)

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

hart
are you going to use the water crystals in the plants youre sending me? if so then i can reuse them right?for your plants?would that work for you? that way i willhave some for yours because i dont know if i can get any this late in the season plmk and thxs so much

Chantell
i missed the co-op,wish i hadnt lol maybe i will find some thxs for the info

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Either the gel or the peat moss. Probably the peat since I plan on sending quite a few plants. That's a terrific idea, Moretz. You could reuse either one. No sense in you having to go out and find them.

If you do want some of the crystals for yourself, I don't know about WalMart but Lowes has them in a white plastic jar. It's great to add to the soil in your hanging baskets or potted plants so you don't have to water quite so often.

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

yes i will try to find some for next year i think it is too late for this year
thxs

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i bet you could still get some crystals from lhasa lover if you really want some.
