This is me checking in again - it has been too long but now I am back on line and ready to go again.
PS- Thanks Josephine!
So here is my garden pics now!
Hello again - long time no see!
I like those natural mixed beds.
Welcome back! Missed your photos and posts.
Excellent job Mitch, so good to have you back, your garden looks beautiful.
Josephine.
Amen to all of the above. So glad to have you back. Have missed you.
LouC
Looking great Mitch! Full of native plants, easy to care for. Do you have pictures of your Daylily beds yet? I would love to see them too.
Thanks everyone - I have missed being on here too... We had three major trees down and the whole air unit here at the house had to be replaced... over all not the best spring but the garden is bursting in bloom.
Shelia - DLs... well I traded off so many in favor of natves this spring that I have 60 or so left out there. But I moved them here and there among the natives. They really stand out and look showy that way. Egyptian Pharoh really made me fall in love with the mixed DL area... I have it right by the blue meally sage and wow! Saddly my camera was on the fritz during the last few DL blooms but I have it back in working order so all should be good here on in and I will try to grab some of them for you. Believe it or not there are 20 some rose in there all one from Josephine and the rest from cuttings... they are all toooo small to bloom and show up right now but I hope in a few years to have a graden that looks like maybe there was an old homestead here and the wildflowers came to live with the planted ones... at least that is the goal! At this rate it might just be all natives... lol
Heya Mitch everything looks great! Like your coneflowers and hollyhocks especially. I have never tried coneflowers - I will plant some this fall.
Steve
Mitch who??? LOL Hey Mitch! Nice to see you! I don't normally visit this forum but saw your name pop up and had to say hi. So HI!!! And welcome back!
Thanks - Love being back.
Cone flowers - just know they those are on year three - the first two years they stayed small this is their first "show"
Wow, Mitch, your yard has changed quite a bit since the last picture I saw.:) Looks like a really good cottage garden.
Hope Chi is a lot taller than he was when I saw him last. He might get lost in your garden!! LOL! It is so lush and full now.
Yes he is getting sooo big!
And it is not a garden - ask him it is a jungle :-)
Lovely cottage garden Mitch...so pretty..
love the garden Mitch... I see where you have put all those plants!
Dont forget there is a garden at my old school and soon to be garden at my new one too!
Mitch,
I wasn't aware you had a garden at school. Where is the old school....and even better, I hope.......where is the new school.
LouC
Old school west Oak Cliff - near the Walmart on 1-30 heading towards Irving. New school right on Houston School Road north of loop 12. Much closer to home. New school (Clara Oliver Ele) is going to have a nice garden used for science we are trying to pay for with grants.
If there is anything I could contribute such as plants or seed let me know.
Assume that you will be starting in the fall.
Christi
We will start in the Fall - and that you soo much - I will let you know.
My husband retired in Oct. and the cash flow is not what it used to be or I would give a donation.
Thank you - but with the ways the rules are now about money right now plants are much much much better anyway. We will need plants and maybe some mentors and guest speakers time to time.
Hey, Mitch! Glad to see you back.
If you're looking for plants... maybe it's time to set a date for the Dallas fall RU/plant swap!
Hi Mitch!
So glad to have you back at DG! Just say the word and I'll send plants when you're ready.
Pirl
Great looking plants Mitch!
Oh Yay - I love your garden. I just want to pitch a tent right in the middle of it!!
Mitch, I *love* what you've done with your yard! It is obviously a labor of love.
Carla
ok Mitch... wannna come and fix my garden up like yours? *giggle
~~~Waving hi , and welcome back Mitch.
Patti
Thanks guys... I am not sure I could ever ever ever recreate this again. One of those things that grew and grew over time.
Oh, I needed to see this! I've been at my house a year and am so frustrated at the things that seem to be growing so slowly -- thanks for the encouragement! Your yard is wonderful.
give them time.. they sleep, creep, and leap - it really takes three years for most plants to really get going.
Oh, Mitch! It's so good to see you again!!
Your garden is looking so great (glad you showed us the years ago photo for comparison, I was going to look for one!) And Chi must just love to explore the "jungle".
He loves it - and all the bugs, butterflies, dragonflies and everything else it brings... what you cannot see if the roses and the two ponds - both wonderful little secrets in the middle of all the blooms.
