Josephine's lavender/chocolate aphrodisiac for Napoleon

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Got to try this, ladies. LOLOL

Here's how to make Josephine Bonaparte's Hot-to-Trot Aphrodisial Lavender Mocha: Prepare in a drip-coffee maker one part fresh ground coffee to three parts crunched up fresh (or dried) lavender flowers. Calculate the amount by assuming approximately one tablespoon coffee & three tablespoons lavender for each cup of coffee made. Prepare an equal amount bittersweet hot cocoa separately. Mix together. Optionally, add a thimble or so of cocoa liquor. You won't be sorry.

Same recipe, another version

To make this drink you'll need:
Coffee plunger or teapot
1 cup boiling water
1 scoop of coffee (Jackie used drip filter coffee)
3 scoops of dried or fresh lavender flowers (Jackie used fresh lavender which gives a stronger flavour)
1 cup hot drinking chocolate

Method:
Place the coffee and lavender flowers in a coffee plunger or bowl and add the boiling water. Let the mixture steep for a few minutes then plunge or strain away the lavender. Add 1 cup of hot drinking chocolate and sweeten to taste. Drink while hot and enjoy Napoleon's favourite aphrodisiac.

Note: English lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) is the only lavender recommended for culinary uses. Other lavenders may have a bitter flavour. Do not use it if it has been recently treated with any garden chemicals.
