Fast grower and it can take a frost so maybe I can get a decent size one before it gets killed off. LOL. Saw one at Epcot and thought it looked pretty cool.
Mountain Papaya which has smaller fruit and is supposed to be hardy into the mid 20's. Worth giving it a try.
Anyone have any thoughts about these plants?
Some seeds to play with
Hi, you said plant. That is a tree and I love it. It is very unusual. Love the flowers and that it is evergreen.
I don't think it will be killed off by frost, Core--- I have two forms growing happily here in Charleston (the cold part---not the peninsula) for the past 7 years, They aren't evergreen here, but they do come back from the roots and lower stalks year after year The Senna alata blooms reliably from late October to the first frost; the S. bicapsularis (my favorite) blooms about the same time, but more heavily. It's beautiful---at a time of year when most things aren't! Truth is, both forms have gotten so big we're going to whack them back this winter. So you should have no trouble in Bluffton! Go for it (they get real big, though...)
