how come I don't have any butterflies? I planted lots of host and nectar plants this year hoping for some exciting cats and butterflies. Instead, all I have seen eating my plants are grasshoppers and cabbage worms. I know I need to be patient, they probably need time to find my garden, but it is hard to wait! My parents just moved to Texas this past week, and my mom is raving about the tons of butterflies they have there. I wish I could transplant some....lol.

I know I need to be patient, but.....
Kim, if your parents are in the country, there are many butterflies around there that have been at their place all along feeding on the wildflowers, so they had it already going.
When we go to the prairies around here, they are all over the place.
The butterflies will have to find your place, but they will, lots of color will bring them in.

I agree, keep adding plants that you hear that they like. The more, the better!! And it is better to plant clusters of each variety of host plant so it is easier for the butterflies to find. A single plant here and there doesn't usually work very well.
Kim,
Do not despair!! It took me at least 2 years before I had bunches!! Masses of one color plant are good and patience! Yuck-it's one of my least favorite words...:)

They're coming.......
