Resin. Can you make an identification from this photo?
Another attempt.
Again, male of either Rufous or Allen's . . . separating these two is very difficult!
If at all possible, try to get a pic from behind, with the tail fanned, as the shape of the tail feathers is the only reliable way to distinguish them. If you stand still, they'll not object to your being close by.
If your camera has a manual focus, that might be better too - set it on the distance to the feeder or slightly closer. The problem with autofocus is that it always autofocusses on the most distant item in the field of view, so the background is in good focus, while the bird isn't :-((

I'm hoping to see my hummers pretty soon as my Trumpetvines are about to bloom.
What types of plants are you seeing them feed from at your place adel?
Maybe you'll be able to catch them perching on a branch sometime.
Good luck, their a joy to have around.
Thanks Resin. I got a Sibley field guide, and based on the description in it and my geographical location I think Rufous is correct. Pelletory. The only blooms in the area at this time are the black berry blossoms you see in the back ground. This bird area is a work in progress and I have to expierment with plants to find ones the deer won't eat.
