This a cutting I rec'd from DL. This little thing has sprouted up in the same pot and I just let it grow thinking it may be a sprout of the cutting. I've been watching it and wanting to say that it is a "sprout".but the leaves of H. Obovata do not look like these. Even the baby leaves on the cutting looked different. I don't guess its hurting anything by leaving it in there?
It could just be a weed of some sort, I probably would not leave it in there, you don't want your cutting to have any competition. In case it might be something important, could you scoop it out with a bit of it's roots and put it in another pot? What kind of soil are you using and where did it come from? Usually commercial soils are sterilized and you don't get strange things growing in them.
Thanks! It is commercial potting soil with extra perlite in it. That is why I thought i might have something here. Oh well, there is no telling. i didin't think about moving it. duh!
