french toast?

For whatever reason, it seems that my question did not get posted. So I will try again. The other day I caught the tail end of a cooking program on TV showing how best to create french toast. I've never been a big fan of breakfast, and certainly not a big fan of french toast, but it would appear that there are some french toast recipes out there that overshadow my own simple efforts to just dip a piece of bread into a milk/egg mixture and throw it onto a hot griddle. Sounds a bit like a collegiate effort, doesn't it? Yep, that's exactly what it was. Single guy, in an efficiency appartment, trying not to starve, and go to classes at the same time.
Now that those days are long gone, and I have a bit more time to play in the kitchen, I would like to hear what many of you have spent a lifetime perfecting. Is that cheating? Frankly, Scarlet!!!
