I have my heart set on these, but I've heard they are very flighty. Anybody have experience with them good or bad?
Anybody have Lakenvelder Chickens?
i had 3 raised from day old chicks. one smothered after getting herself trapped in the haymow but the other 2 (wanda and ronda) are fine. they are quite flighty, very busy little birds. they roost high, flying into rafters of their house is their first choice. they are curious, rangy and very pretty. i would not want to see them in a cooped up situation, but free range suits them fine. mine roam over 81/2 fenced acres and wanda and ronda are 2 of them who will range out quite far. so if none of that bothers you, they are quite pretty with their 'shadow on a sheet' coloring and perky carriage. they are not nearly as 'tame' as some of my other girls are and lay smaller eggs than most but i do enjoy my 2.
