Sorticulture weekend in Everett

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Friday 6/15 from noon to 8:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 6:00 at Legion Park in the North end of Everett. All sorts of gardening lectures, handcrafted garden stuff, plants, food and fun. Also it is right next to the Everett Arboretum which is also filled with neat landscaping.

Great pictures! I wish this was held around Mother's Day instead of Father's Day, I would be there. DH has 3 day weekends in the spring and summer and usually has some plans.
Beautiful, I would love to see all the booths, those plant stands are interesting!
I went to Sunnyside Nursery today, I really liked the place. I bought 29 more plants and a nice pot. I think I will make DH go to get some of the bigger pots this weekend while we are out...lol He has all the strength and can lift them.
Keep the pictures coming.....
Thanks

Balvenie, probably good that I didn't know about it sooner - that's my favorite kind of event and I can get into an awful lot of trouble!!

I wanna go!

I just got back. Pretty nice again this year, except for the weather.

There should be some good prices this evening about closing time. The red disc in #6 was around $100.00 this morning but if it is still there later I bet you can get a better price on it. Lots of neat stuff. A huge giant massive big steel flower really tipped my scale, but the $750.00 was in hiding and certainly not in my pocketbook, darn it.

Very cool stuff! I'm glad I'm too far away. I'd like to have a big red "lollipop" in the yard-that'd be fun. I really like the steel flower too, but I'm with you on the price! Erk! Think I'd have to learn to work steel myself at those prices, lol!

I was there! I went with my garden club but once we got there, I never saw any of them again! LOL I was too intent on buying. I spent several hundred (bad bad girl) and my suburban was completely full, entire back with the third bench down AND the second bench and floor in front of it. LOL

Some of the booths had expensive stuff but I thought a lot of them had great bargains. I went for the bargains except that I did cave in to $90 on a 'bed frame,' four pieces that go together into a small bed to plant inside, very cute.

The other thing I bought that was not a bargain was very tiny pieces to make a fairy scene under my weeping plum tree. I've always wanted to do that but never knew where to get the stuff and there was a booth full of it. So I got a little fairy, a tiny flower pot, and a 'stone' wall with a 'picket' gate in it. I figure I can add on in future years.

I also got some unusual varieties of plants - 3 lesser known varieties of knifophias (more creamy colors than the red hot pokers) and stuff like that.

This is such a great event - some of the vendors are not seen at the typical street fairs and the nurseries that show up tend to be the small nurseries run out of people's homes and they bring their more unusual varieties of plants.

Gwen, how cool!!!!! Wise investments, if you ask me!!! Was it the S. Whidbey Garden Club you went with?

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

Yes, it was. First we went to the Everett Arboretum, then over to Sorticulture when it opened at noon. I think alot of the good stuff goes fast, but Balvenie had a good point about getting bargains at the end of the day on Saturday.

Hmmm....I think I'll keep this in the back of my mind. I actually have always loved little street fairs and this one sounds pretty neat. Definitely have to plan in advance, though. It's a little too far to run out at the last minute.

Not really, Suzy! I make the trek to Woodland for the lilac thing at Hulda Klager's about every other year. It's usually sort of last minute. We make a day of it, have lunch at the Olympic Hotel on the way home. Traveling for plants is never an issue! LOL I have to say, tho, with the cost of gas this year, I did think twice about going down. But I really wanted a lilac that's hard to find. And we lost 15 pines in a storm this year so I decided to replace them (slowly) with lilacs. I only found one other one I wanted. They were out of everything. I've learned that you have to phone ahead and preorder if you want anything good. That's what I did with the 'rare' (lilac sundae) one I wanted.

Rats! I'm sorry I missed this. I was nearly up there, but got a little bogged down in rehearsals for the American Masterpieces Choral fest. in Seattle over the weekend.

It's so good to see what's available there so I can get it on the calendar for next year!

Gwen, please post pictures of the fairy scene when you've finished it. I so want to do this in my shady area near the front door, but I need examples for inspiration.

My problem is that the way my mind works I'm likely to remember at 1:30pm Saturday afternoon- "Oh, yeah, wasn't this the weekend of that lovely festival in (rats!) Everett......."

Driving to Seattle has been less than wonderful while the worst of the new SR16 bridge construction has been going on. It's starting to get back to reasonable again, though.

Oh Balvenie thanks for sharing the pictures, it looks like it was wonderful! Share some pictures of your purchases! I wish I could have went, but Saturday I was supervising the tree and shrub plantings for a friend!
Happy gardening, Carla
