Wanted: ground covers, hardy salvias,etc

I am looking for ground covers that are hardy to zone 7b, for both sunny and shady areas-ivies, sedums, etc. variegation is a plus. Also hardy salvias I don't have and pink or yellow callas. I will be gone this weekend but will try to pack and send on Sunday or Monday.

Have available for trade:

Salvia Guarantica, 'black & blue' (tons!doesn't look great after digging, but recovers quickly), salvia uglinosa (2-3 trades)
Unid daylilies (just a couple)
Black eyed susans
Shasta daises
Richard Wallace, Red President, Cherry Red cannas
Yarrow-white (lots), 1 trade of an intensely pink one (don't know names here)
colocasia esculenta plants-2 or 3
homestead purple verbena (doesn't look great after digging, but recovers quickly)
amsonia
malva sylvestris

That's all I can think of now, thanks everyone!

Tropicanna,

I can send you cuttings of Artemesia Lime Lights if you like for postage. I like to keep it low and don't let if flower. Its getting ready to do that so I'm about to cut off all the long stems which range from 8-12 inches. If you don't want them I'm going to root some and toss the rest.

Let me know,

Daisy

Auntanne-would be interested in any iceplants, they grow well on a dry bank I have, what would you like?

jackie-I have no TB iris, sorry

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Not a prob. I have the yellow and dk. pink varieties of one kind and the lavender of another. I'll look in a min. for the appropriate name, I'm having problems staying logged onto Dave's site this morning. The only prob. is that bf was looking over my shoulder and wants both yellow and red cannas. Can we do this and I'll just pay for postage on cannas? I'll send the ice plants in a bubble env. this afternoon or tomorrow. I got out early and started digging up iris at the cemetery and got too hot. So am trying to get cooled off. I still have another clump left. These at cemetery and here at house were planted years and years ago and never divided. The clump that I worked on this morning deformed, I'm hoping dividing and tlc will fix the prob. The other clump will have to wait till in the morning. Hopefully it will rain again this afternoon so soil will be diggable.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

we can work that out aunt anne, I have cannas aplenty

http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/63295/index.html I think the 3rd variety that I have is something like this, but it's a lavender ish color.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Seems great. One thing I notice about the info in Plantfiles, it states that the hardiest one is to zone 8b, yet I know at least some type (?) of pink one is much hardier. AAnne, I should be able to get a box ready for you by Mon, or if not it will be next week, thanks!

You have d-mail.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Aunt Anne sent me some of her delosperma wrapped up in a dry! paper towel, which arrived looking quite perky nontheless. I had no hope for any of it and consequebtly did not nurture it. Still, every scrap rooted and is now flowering. If you can get any of this stuff from her, you will be glad you did, all summer at least, if not longer.

xxx, Carrie

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Thank you Carrie. This stuff is so easy that when I cleaned out and repotted them (all 3) I just laid the broken or dead rooted ones on top of one of my hibiscus. Two weeks later I picked them up and stuck them in the dirt on several of my hibiscus. You couldn't tell that they hadn't always been there. A very hardy plant.

Also, Tropi, I can send you creeping Nancy (pink or white) which might like to be started on real dirt but then could grow onto anything from there.
WE have an awful hill too, and we're planting ice plants on it that are supposed to be hardy to zone 4 or something.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I don't suppose you'd want any cranesbill?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I wouldn't mind, actually, don't have any...lol. WHat would you be interested in?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I'd be interested in any of the amsonia, verbena, malva sylvestris, daisies, or black eyed susan?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Sure thing, ma'am! I'll get a box together for you this week, prob. will be flat rate. I'll let you know when I'm ready to send. If you'd like you can wait for me to send first, my address is in the exchange ;)

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm getting ready to send another box out today, so I might as well make a day of it. :) :) It's fine with me if your box goes out later.

Plus, with you "all the way over there" on the other coast I'd feel better about sending it out early in the week. I haven't done the addy exchange thing. My DH is funny about things like that. Could you send me your address in a dmail?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

dmailed you susy, thanks
