What are the names of some summer peas? I don't like black eyed peas, are there any green types?

My Tom Thumbs do great year 'round!

Summer peas - for drying or shelling?

Thanks Sequee... BTW, how is your garlic coming along? Don't forget to keep me posted. :)

Blue: I would prefer shelling, thank you for asking and let this newbie get some ideas please! :)

I am trying Pioneer for the first time this year, and they are producing like crazy. I will let you know how long they put out.

I didn't try garlic this year. It's my first year with potatoes and onions, though, and everything LOOKS great. It's hard to tell what's under the surface, though! LOL! I can hardly wait to find out! Since I planted them too closely, I have picked a few onions/shallots to use as Spring onions . Yummmmmmmmmmm!

I am assuming that you want English peas (Pisum sativum). They may grow in the summer in your area althoght they will not tolerate the heat further south. Browse through the Plantfiles. Here are the few, Dg'ers have thought enough of to post pictures and comments. http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=English+pea&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=with&Search=Search Looks like few people here grow them.
