What is the biggest bloomer?

Valrico, FL(Zone 9a)

Being new to the forum I hope i'm not regurgitating a topic thats recently been covered but what plumeria in your opinion is the biggest bloomer in terms of sheer number of flowers to an inflo? Seeing the nice photos and huge blooming capacity of the Penang Peach makes me wonder.

As far as what I personally have the Madison White aka Sam Germain akaVenezuelan Snowball and whatever else you call it (since i've been out of the scene for awhile i'm sure this has been cleared up) puts out nice blooms for me.

Though it hasnt bloomed yet for me being a small cutting I have high hopes for Bali Hai Gold.

How about you?

yes Venezuelan Snowball, yes Bali Hai Gold.

Here is my Lurline inflo from last fall.

Nice Dutchlady! I have one myself that hasn't bloomed yet - it almost kicked the bucket last year and is recovering. Hope it looks half as nice as yours!!

Anyone else?

Come on - no one else wants to comment? Anyone??? :)

My Tahitian Sunset always puts out big inflo's, and Brad always shows big inflo's on Bill Moragne and Mary Moragne. I think, as all trees mature and get bigger, the inflo's will get bigger also.

while not of the texas, florida or socal caliber, i'd have to say my aztec gold does well in arizona and is a big bloomer for me.

Of course how could I forget Bill Moragne. It's famous for its big inflos.
It's true that as trees mature they are better bloomers. Some just have exceptionally big inflos.

hetty - i think that's what i'm noticing is that my "trees" are maturing. woo hoo!

I know - isn't it exciting!!!
I do however have to get rid of a few duplicates now...space is getting to be at a premium.

My Aztec Gold is getting to be a really big tree and its inflo's are larger each year. We've had torrential rain every day for weeks and it is knocking all the blooms off but here is a new picture of the inflo's.

PS I got on a step ladder to get a good view ;-}

May I ask, if Plumies hardy on zone 8 & 9? Look like I'm dreaming of tropical gardening. :-)

Lily_love, many people grow plumeria successfully outside of their natural zones. You will have to protect them in the winter but since they go dormant that is not usually a problem. Just store them in any frost-free space.

Yep, I'm in zone 8b (high desert) and people here just bring them indoors when the temps start dropping in the fall. You CAN successfully grow them, but you have to be willing to bring them in.

Ditto that. I've grown them here and have success. Looking forward to expand my collection. Or just dreaming. lol.

Even in 8b, I bring them in each year. I (actually we, my DH insists I give him the credit due) just use the shovel to loosen them and then shake all the dirt off and store in Garage. My DH has rigged up an area to lean them in since they are getting too big to just lay them in stacks on the floor. This year they are going to get some serious pruning. Its getting hard to handle them at 6 feet tall and growing fast.
It can be a lot of work but we think it's worth it.
