found eggs help
Perhaps they are Ladybug eggs?
Photo is kind of fuzzy...but those look a little too round to be ladybug...but ya just never know. Google for images of lady bug eggs and see if they resemble yours.
Can't think of anything out here that uses butterfly bush as a larval host. You are talking about buddleia right? Or butterfly weed (asclepias)?
A nice little cluster like that could mean cinch bugs...they come in a variety of colors.
Keep us posted!!!

Yes it is a Buddleja
I had the same thing on my buddleia alternifolia and according to my bugs book it was Mexican potato beetle eggs. I've seen several of the bugs and kill them when I can, so I feel pretty sure that's it. It looks like a ladybug but it's greenish yellow with black stripes. grrr...
I have been Googling for all kinds of eggs for hours have not come up with a thing, still have them in a bottle waiting for them to hatch. But my really dumb Q is do these Mexican potato beetles live in Wash. state? I will Google it. I do know it is not cinch bugs at least not for now I can't find out any thing. I send a E-mail to some bug institute hope to hear something back. will keep you posted. I'll try to take a better pic.

Hi Tilly!
After a bit of research I found that the Western Checkerspot will use Buddleia as a larval host. It is only a possiblility at this point that this is what your eggs could be. I wasn't able to find any pictures of an egg clutch for them, but I do know that Checkerspot butterflies lay their eggs in neat little clusters. Someone in Bug IDforum might have a book with more information, you could check there and ask.
What color is your Budd?
Hummers are highly attracted to the red colored Budds, and will often inspect the leaves for little insect eggs and cats like those on your Buddleia.
I will be watching to see what emerges!!

Is there a local cooperative extension office near you? I've brought things to mine for ID before, and they were really helpful. This was before I joined DG, of course! :)
My Budd is a very dark purple with gray leaves.
As far as I know there is no co-op around here I will check.
They have not hatch yet.
I have not seen much activity with the Hummers on, it but I do know the Butterfly's love them. I have a pic of it as soon as I can find it will send.
Are you saying Cats as four legged or ?
LOL, tillysrat! Cats is short for caterpillar. Not the furry four legged ones! :-)
Know I feel real smart, I'm been googling to much and a real computer dummy.
This will be the third time trying to send this getting real frustrated with this computer.
But cats did trow me off a tad
I have found out nothing and no babies yet but I did find a neat wed site, was going to hyper link but as I said computer and i are not getting along well today.
I Google for insect eggs and found this site bugman@whatsthatbug.com and I sent them a pic. Time will tell will try DGs bug forum next
