He's not going to be alive long, unless...

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 7b)

This is on my Alstroemeria that I have been going crazy trying to grow and buy different varieties.

I have a whole seperate area for butterfly and cats and hummers.
All kinds of things they like to munch on and demolish.

He can NOT stay on the alstroemeria.

Does anyone know what it will turn into?

I can't tell what it is, but if you have a garden bed that it can munch on ..... move it on over there! :-)

Thanks, going to move it now.
Should I put it on a milkweed, parsley, crossvine or passion vine? any thoughts?

If you have some Butterfly Weed, that would probably do it. Otherwise just stick him on whatever and hopefully he'll climb over to something that he will eat or he will go into a chrysalis. I have some that are eating some of my flowers, too. Don't know what they are but I just move them. I can't kill them, even the bad ones.

I am growing so many new things this year and it is great but with new things came all the new bugs.
I am at battle with aphids and a gross little worm that is eating my canna. Those get eliminated, but this little guy I move to the butterfly weed and he can invite all his friends if he wants!

I just panicked when he was on the Alstro.
Thanks Becky,
Here he is in his new home.

He probably won't eat anything in that bed because he doesn't look like any cats that use those plants, but he does look big enough to pupate into the chrysalis stage. Maybe not finding any food will speed that morphing stage.

The canna worms are probably this caterpillar:
lesser canna leafroller

Or most likely the cute little Brazilian Skipper Butterflies:

When you are gardening for butterflies, moths, and hummers .... sometimes you just have to accept the damage to the plants. (Unfortunate as it may seem.)

Wow, you are great!

My canna have the small leaf rollers Geshna cannalis.

I am actually glad and sad that they arent the Skippers.
Glad that I can spray them and the canna will look better...
Sad that I dont have the Skippers. I would have let them have a few canna.
I will be able to tolerate the damage if they are butterflies and maybe a few cute moths.
Otherwise they have to stay on their side of the yard. LOL

Thanks for all the info, it was right on target!
