im curious about your success with planting winter squash in this manner. do you plant other winter squash in buried pots? do you think your yields suffer at all?

Andrew I'm sad to say that Big_Red has passed away but I know he had excellent results with the above. No idea about other winter squash that he grew however.

I am sorry to hear about Big_Red. This method is quite intriguing and I am going to have to try if for myself, perhaps with a larger winter squash.
