samirie - good in AZ!

Tucson, AZ

i have no authority to do this but i am officially making samirie a plumeria worthy to grow in arizona. take a look at this inflo! it has been hot and dry and she's doing well. of course, we have not been over 100 much if any. it remains to be seen what she does then. it's june though and she's doing good. she gets sun from sunrise until about 1pm.

i know that most of you are used to seeing better blooms than this. for me in hot, dry arizona this is exciting! LOL

Nice set of flowers. May have to get one of those! Let me know how it holds up when you get above 100.

davie - she's still looking good and we're over 100 degrees now. she likes to hold on to her old flowers. new flowers are quite vivid!

Very nice find. Are the flowers thick?

Tucson, AZ

they're stiff and velvety.

I thought that might be the case. I have noticed that the thicker the texture, the longer it holds color and rigidity. I have also noticed, not in all cases, that the longer the flower takes to open the, the longer it holds. This also again correlated to the thickness. The thin flowers open fast, and burn fast. The thick flowers open slower, but last longer. Have you seen this?

i don't think that i've paid that much attention...
