I'm not a huge Banana fan, but that foliage is fabulous!
(You've got really dirty toes, B;) LOL!
That's OK, though...we all understand!

I have hobbit feet working in sandles all the time LOL. I notice people noticing my feet often these days. But I am to busy to really care LOL. They do help make the plants look prettier in photos.

Great find, Brian! I hope it wasn't to expensive. I've seen the prices they were going for on ebay...even the seeds....ouch!

:) I didn't have a clue what an Ensete was until reading through the thread! And, I love the looks of that plant! I've never tried growing a Banana but that one is Absolutely Gorgeous! Does it bear fruit or is it just some sort of Ornamental Plant? It is really pretty! I agree with texasbigleaves that a lot of folks are gonna want that one! I would love to grow it just for those pretty leaves!

Come on Brian, fess up. Where did you find it. Inquiring minds want to know.

Louisville, KY

I got the plant from a friend who locally. He sells at a small retail store and had around 40 or so plants a few had variegated leaves most were slower and smaller than the normal ones. He said they looked sick to him so he would sell them to me at a discount LOL. I told him they looked variegated to me. He said 8.00 and its yours. I dont think I could pass that up.

As far has propagting the plant I have a few ways I can cause the plant to produce pups. But it is going to take some nerve from me. Manly I will have to chop the plant down to the ground and disturbe the mero-stem. Its about the only way to get it to work.

Fabulous! I would love one, when they are available, if they aren't a "monster "plant.

Any chance it is a dwarf? ihope ihope....

If you're really going to stimulate the mero-stem, I would love to get a pup. You really do need nerves of steel to do that though...

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

what is a mero stem

Pawling, NY(Zone 5b)

Sorry it's been a while. It's meristem and it's the plant's version of stem cell.

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

oh ok so that is like brain surgery to the plant... hmmm that IS ballsy
