That is a bright one and very pretty. I hope mine gets big enough to bloom some day soon.

It's gorgeous Betty. If these had a longer bloom season, I would order
10 more.

My mom used to grow and sell these to local nurseries about 30 years ago. She had a huge lath house with dozens of beautiful varieties. I used to help her care for them. This is a very old cultivar, called "Marseillaise".

Fort Mill, SC(Zone 7b)

That is a beautiful shade of pink. What is the name of the pink one?

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

Not positive of the name. Bevs Garden said above that it is called "Marseillaise" I have looked at photos on Google and think that she is correct. I think I got that one at an estate sale. It looked really pitiful and I bought it to give it a good home. A couple of months later it rewarded me with those beautiful almost fuschia colored blooms.

OH, Betty, what a beautiful epi!! Talk about bright. I bet your hummingbirds love this one. Is this your epi that you labeled pink? I know my pink isn't doing much of anything now. Karen

Nope, this is one that I have always called Red. Did I give you a start???
If not I can fix that. LOL

All of my Epies are LOVING this heat. 106 today UGH!!!!! Not me. :~((( LOL

What do you do to get these to bloom? I bought a large one this spring and have fertilized it with higher phosphorous and it hasn't shown any signs of blooming. I have read that you need to keep them dry in the winter and they will bloom. Does anyone know?

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

Keeping them root bound seems to work the best. Mine always start blooming in the spring. Seems the humidity in the GH over winter causes them to set buds.
