I am wondering if there is some way to "bookmark" threads here on DG or do you have to do it through your ISP and internet explorer or whatever you are using?
Also, does anyone know if regular ground table pepper kills or discourages ants? Like fire ants?
I have been using pepper in my seed garden beds to keep the squirrels out. Works good! I recently noticed that everywhere that I accidentally sprinkled pepper on ant hills, they left (or died ... not sure). Anyone have any knowledge or insight about this? I hope it really keeps them away rather than using pesticides. The fire ants in Florida are HORRIBLE!!!! It seems for every hill I kill they move to another place or two and just make a mess of my yard! And they sure hurt when ya get bit by the darn things!!

A couple questions ....
I bookmark posts within Dave's by copying the post number under the author and saving it to my diary. Same with threads, only I copy the http: from the computer header into my diary. Maybe someone else can tell you of a better way. I'd like to know if there's a better way too.
I'm clueless on a home remedy for fire ants other than grits. I think if the ants don't feed the queen the "bad stuff" that kills her so the colony will die off, then, they'll just move her to a new nest if it's only threathen. I think pepper is only a barrier. That's why they move somewhere else.
Got this tid-bit on grits (and my granny used grits too) I haven't tried it though:
Here's a really sneaky way to get rid of fire ants. (All's fair in love and the war against insect pests.) The only way to get rid of an infestation is to assassinate the queen. Wait until a dry spell is about to end. Sprinkle instant grits on the fire ant hill. The workers will carry the grits to the queen for her royal meal. She'll eat the grits and when it rains, she'll drink. And that's what will kill her. The grits will expand in her stomach and she'll "bloat" to death. Once she's out of the way, the leaderless ants will die off. (This suggestion came courtesy of the Tightwad Gazette II book.)
Corn meal works like grits too -- they love the stuff, eat it, and it expands in their stomach.
Hmmm .... now that is interesting about the grits. Might just have to try that! :-) Thanks!!
Maybe I'll go to Dave's space and ask about a bookmark feature. If there isn't one, maybe that will be something they can add to DG in the future! :-)
Thanks, Felicia! Now I have 2 options!!! :-) :-) :-)
I started a thread asking about the Bookmark question on Dave's forum:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/733783/
If you don't mind ...... maybe y'all could add your input about the bookmark feature on Dave's forum to show more members would like to have such an option! Please consider .....! I think it would be a very useful feature. :-)
Wow!!! Becky,
Dave must be a fan of yours. What 2 hours after you request - it's there.I'm impressed. Can you work your magic on Home Owners Insurance here in Florida? Just kidding (lol) How do you delete from the folder? Nice feature even if you can't delete yet. Good work Dave Becky!!
Don - Hopefully Dave is working on the delete feature and maybe a title feature for any threads or posts we save there. :-) Nice, huh?! I will definitely be using it! It will be quite helpful to me for sure!
Becky, supposedly the grits thing is a myth and not true. I read somewhere that there is no way to get rid of fire ants unless the entire neighborhood poisons them.
