Storing Caladium bulbs
ctindell,
Storing Caladium bulbs from one season to the next can be a tricky proposition. Thankfully I can just leave mine in the ground but I have heard several tips from some of my awesome customers. The most common one for people that plant there bulbs directly into the ground is to dig them up before any threat of freezing weather, let bulbs cure for about a week and they then store them in a paper bag filled with sphnagum moss. Container planting is the easiest, just bring the container inside and store it in your basement or someplace else that will have a moderate temperature. Ideally they should be stored around 60 degrees. That's cool enough to let them hiberate safely and not warm enough for them to keep growing.
I hope that helps..

Thanks I will try both.
Good advice, Bill....our winters can get very cold here as well at nights especially - so I don't think they'll make it through in the ground here either. Thanks
