This vine appeared a couple of years ago, I thought it interesting and let it grow. I've not seen it anywhere else and wonder if it's a native plant? This year it seems to be doing exceptionally well. I don't pay any attention to it, no water no nothing, and it's on the east side of the full glaring sun until around 3PM.
I.D. On a climbing -fern like vine-
Asparagus fern http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2575/index.html. Found the thorns yet?
Maidenhair from Peru>
No..I do have several of those, and they are different. the Asparagus is much more feathery or "hairy" in the frond portion. Actually they can irritate the skin pretty good when I'm working around them.
That's a cool looking Maidenhair, hadn't seen that one before.
Your right, not asparagas, I didn't look at the close up of the foliage. We have your fern growing wild around this part of FL too. Never seen a name for it tho. I have been to botanical gardens where the staff didn't know the botanical names of the plants that weren't labeled.

Yes...That's is what I'm thinking......guess it's far from Native then eh?
Rjuddharrison, I am sorry to tell you that your vine is far from being native although it is a beautiful vine, it is classified as a Texas invasive plant. Josephine.

Thanks Josephine,
That is what I originally suspected as it's volunteering appearance and success in hot dry area,
Which is why I started here first on the Texas thread.
Dale...what is that climbing vine!!! that is very nice
