I polinated this Alocasia flower a few weeks ago, and i was wondering how long it should take the berries to rippen?
How long should berries take???
Congratulations!
Usually takes months. What cross did you make? I have them sometimes not take but look like they do. They berries have to turn orange before they are ready.
I would hope to be wrong but a lot of times if the flower starts to lean over it usually tells me that cross did not take. I have had partial crosses were they try to produce berries and at times even do produce nice huge berries but with no seed or shriveled up mutated seed that dont take. Hopefully I am wrong with your picture. But for me it has shown to be a bad sign. I have it now on a few hybrid attempts. The worst ever was a Amorphophallus hybrid I tried were it produced huge berries that were empty LOL. I was really upset to wait all that time to get duds.
keep me informed if it takes that would be a very impressive hybrid. I hope to get Alocasia Royale x with borneo Giant in the next few weeks I have the flowers getting ready. It would be a very odd cross.
I did get seedlings growing of Alocasia Mac X longloba then I crossed that with borneo giant. They are just a few inches tall now but should be interesting to see what they turn into.
here is a pic Royale
thanks for the information. i hope that is stays. it's been a good three weeks since i polinated it, and even though it is leaning it still look healthy. i don't know, i'll just wait and see.
