I am in the process of totally renovating my garden space, and I was wondering if I could plant some Stargazer lily bulbs now while my other stuff is still short, rather than waiting for fall, when the echinacea and other stuff has grown over. I saw some bulbs on sale at the other day, but I wondered if this would be a good idea? Think I would get some flowers next year?
planting lily bulbs now?
Me too. I picked up a few on sale at Home Depot the other day.
Last year I did the same thing. Got a few on sale after the main part of the season was through. I put them into the ground, and they did come up before summer was over, but didn't bloom. I have lovely lilies this year from them though. I think maybe some of them may have rotted, but I did get about half that came up and are doing nicely.
The ones I got at HD the other day, were colors I didn't already have, so I went ahead and planted them next to the others from last year. I suppose they will come up this summer, but probbly won't bloom until next summer.
