Someone told me they like to see other people places and photos. My gardens have been neglected because I have been to involved with my greenhouse.
this area is one of the sunny spots on my property. There are LOTS of shaddy places.
A Short Tour of My Garden
That looks to me like a property where a person could just wander around for hours without losing interest. I'd love to see the trail of shame in bloom. :)
That's a gorgeous butterfly shot. What kind is it? A zebra swallowtail?
Its the Florida State Butterfly! Zebra Longwing
Yeah, I definitely live in the wrong state. :)
Thanks for identifying the Zebra Longwing for me. That is gorgeous!
Delisa it all looks wonderful. Butterflies like some open weedy areas too. I have to fight DH to keep his from mowing everything in site. And I love your DH's trail of shame lol. Be thankful he is into planting or you would be like us begging for help. I see you had your shadows with you in one of the pics. DH calls me the Pied Piper because when I am out wandering in the yard both my dogs and both cats follow me where ever I go.
Donna I call them my "Posse". whenever I even get up and go to another room they all get up and follow. When I am in the gh they wait for me laying around outside until I come out and we all go back in together. You know I have a bunch of rescue dogs. A BUNCH. LOL.
Here is a new bed John has been working on. He is proud of his rock art.
Delisa- It is very beautiful. I need some information from you. The zebra lw is perched on what plant? Tomentosa? Can you give me the full name? You see, I have that plant also, and was told it was a chaya, or spinach tree. However, mine does not look like the chaya pictures in plantfiles. It looks like yours. Thanks!
This is my little resting area in back of the new bed. I only have a couple things planted in it so far but I do have a really pretty little plant called a scorpians tail that I got at a trade last fall from Stacy. It is compact and a little spreading, but has a nice flow to it I just wish I saw more on it than the wasps so far.
From what I can tell there is more than one plant called a spinach tree. These photos look like mine (except larger).

oh that is neat. Is it hardy in zone 8b???? I think I need one of those lol
Delisa it is delovely au naturel!
Very nice Delisa...and love all your gardening buddies!
Donna plantfiles says zone 9b. The butterflies do love it.
Yes. Thanks, that's the one I have.
Delisa - Your property is gorgeous! I absolutely love all of it! Tell your dh that his "Trail of Shame" looks beautiful! I wouldn't be ashamed to have a trail of all of those lovely plants! :-)
All your pets are adorable! So you've got a very big soft spot for animals! That's neat that they are rescue dogs! You did good, Delisa!!!
I just have to ask ..... how big is your property? It looks like at least an acre or two. That's my dream .... to have an acre or two and lots and lots of paths, gardens, and a large pond!!!
I love the look of your place! Thanks for sharing your peace of heaven with all of us!!! :-)
I love your place Delisa. The woodsy trails and paths, the greenhouse, and all your 4 legged children. Nice. : )
well phooey!!!!! I'm a whole zone to cold but my Calotropis did come back and the Plumbago Indica so maybe I am sheltered enough. Have to think about it. How easy does it root??? Maybe you can root me a piece for Florala swap next spring??
Donna it is making seed pods. I will start some to share! It might even but up by August! Even if you cant over winter it you could treat it as an annual.
Donna speaking of micro climates. I am so jealous of people around here that have zone 10 micro climates!
Becky it is 4.5 acres and I could kick myself for not buying the 2 lots next to me because at the prices today I could never afford to buy them at todays market value. When I bought these lots I was told I was ripped off! Now it seems like a steal.
Oh wow! 4.5 acres is a nice size piece of property for gardening on! I envy your good fortune!!! That would be my dream, but unlikely to happen. Your place is lovely and a good size for winding paths and wildlife and everything else in-between! :-)
Becky we bought the land first and paid on it until we got a good amount of equity. We lived in a very old house in town with rent of only 200 a month to make this happen. We paid 4 times the amount owed on the land every month. It was a three year loan only so had to really push it. Then when we had the equity we put the house out there. It was like heaven when we got here with central AC and ice maker!
Delisa, I finally got a chance to see your gardens! Thank you for the wonderful tour.
:) Donna
Delisa--I just tuned into this thread and love the tour of your property! Something in every corner to find and admire!
Looking forward to seeing more butterfly pics! t.
