Crinum Powellii (I think)

crinum x powellii. Mine are blooming now, too.
Thanks Gloria
Mine has a very sweet fragrance,if you put your nose very close to the flower.
These are such beautiful and carefree plants. Id like to get more of them, but they are hard to come by. There are "milk-and-wine" lilies around here at old houses. They are white lilies with a red streak. Ive ordered a variety called gigantium from Van Bourgandien a few times, but usually the bulbs are in such poor condition I never get a plant out of them. Ive seen a few places where you can find seed. I think Ill try that route next. Yours are beautiful.
You might try this place and get the ones on sale.

Wow. What a find! Thanks, Tropicman. I love that she has 'found' crinums.
Hi!
Great picture of your crinum, Tropic...
I have a couple of extra pieces of C. Hannibal's Dwarf that I'd love to trade for something interesting (crinum:)) that I don't have. Bog or terrestrial, either one.
I have C. Ellen Bosanquet, C. erubescens, and C. Stars and Stripes...also a burgandy-leafed one.
Let me know if you're interested.
Bev
Thanks, sorry don't have any others at this time to trade.
Gorgeous, Tropicman! Do you have a closer picture of the flower?
:) Donna
Thanks,
I'll have to check to see if I do.

Here is the photo from Plant Files.
This is what mine look like. Very nice, and they are blooming among a bunch of plants I thought had died from the drought.

Tropicman.....do you leave yours outside in the winter months?
Well I have a 'Ellen Bosanquet',that has been left outside for 2 years now with out any protection.and returns and flowers,so I'm gonna try a few others, with straw mulch, they are in raised beds,to help keep them on the dry side,I'll let you know next spring how they do!
Don
Can I ask the difference between crinium, and amerilis, without sounding any more ignorant than I am? Mike
mqiq77: Ignorance is not knowing to ask a question.
Family: amaryllidaceae
Genus: crinum

Gee thanks, Gloria125, once I finish this encyclopedia of crinium, I want have an excuse to clame "ignorance" (excusing the way I sp (amyrillis), I hope.Mike
You might know a lot about crinums by the time you finish, but then you will still have the amaryllis ahead of you. Its just a never ending struggle.
