White Clematis...Matka Siedliska

Denton, TX(Zone 7b)

I'm wanting more white Clematis and think Matka Siedliska is so beautiful. Can anyone share their experience with it? Would it do well in Texas? So far, I have Huldine, Alba Luxurians, Shirayukime, and Roko Kolla and "need" one or two more. TIA.

My DG gardening buddy & friend, Nikki_Conway, grows "Matka Siedliska". I'll send her a d-mail and she can post her thoughts about this Clematis. So, stay tuned!

Thanks, Jeanne and Shirley! I think Henryi and Candida are very pretty, too. Also, do either of you grow The Bride?

I d-mailed by DG buddy nikki_conway, but she hasn't gotten over to this thread yet. She must be very busy with her boys, the end of the school parties & activities.

I don't grow "The Bride", but I have "Wada's Primrose", "Henryi" and one other white Clematis that I can post pictures of.

This is "Henryi".

"Wada's Primrose" which I thought I killed, but patience & constant watering 'the dirt' finally paid off this year!

Wow, those are all so beautiful. I love white flowers for a moonlit garden. Thank you for sharing them and now they are on the wish list.

Jeanne, are the tepals on John Huxtable slightly wavy? That's a nice one!

Shirley, I had heard somewhere that Wada's Primrose did not do real well in cooler climates. Have you heard that at all? I'm in a zone 4 and have shied away from it because of that.

Finch..yes JH is slightly wavy...thanks...Jeanne

goldfinch4: Actually, I think it's just the opposite with "Wada's Primrose". I found that she sulked in my hot & humid gardening zone. I made the comment above that I thought I had 'kill her' because this is the first year that she is flowering and I've easily had her in my garden for 4-5yrs. However, that being said, I did purchase her from Donahue's Clematis Nursery and they always send you very small plants. It takes time for them to catch up......and it certainly did! Here is a link so that you can read about "Wada's Primrose" in DG's PlantFiles and draw your own conclusions.

Shirley, thanks for the info. Sounds like it's rather slow to take off for everybody. But it's pretty enough for the wait!
