CLOSED: Wanted: Lavender intermedia x. "grosso"

Central Valley, CA(Zone 9b)

I'm looking for layered cuttings of the "Grosso" variety of lavender, and am willing to trade either herbal soaps, peppermint, or lavender, or anything on my trade list, for them, or pay postage.
Thank you
Cyra

aka 'Fat Spike' in case anybody has it by that name...

I checked my hedge, and I didn't find any self-layered little volunteers... I may try to encourage some layering, but I probably won't have plants from that any time soon even if I'm successful. I'm willing to try sending you unrooted cuttings, but I am guessing it would be better to see if you could get them from somebody a little closer to you. Sometimes Priorty Mail gets to CA in 1-2 days, sometimes... well, sometimes it takes a lot longer.

I probably wouldn't do well w. unrooted cuttings, at this time, Critterologist. Right now, I only have time for minimal plant maintenance, (watering), since I'm going from part-time to full time work, and in two weeks, to full time (57+ hr. weeks). I try to care for all special needs plants, and do most of my propagation in early spring, because later on, there is no time, and any time available that I'm not working, I need to sleep. In fact, during the summers here, I'm rarely even online, I work seasonally each summer, in order to play in the dirt, the rest of my year:)
I'd like to try this particular hybrid because I hear it is good for essential oil production, and I'm getting a still set-up later on this year. This lavender and Lemon Verbena are the two main plants I'd like to try distilling EOs from.
So if you have this particular variety, which is the same cultivar mainly used in France for Lavender essential oil distillation, please let me know if you find any rooted cuttings. I'd like to try growing this variety a year or two and see how it does, here. Or maybe you could peg down a branch or two for me?
There should be no problem with shipping, I get plants from Logee's nursury on your coast, without problems.
Thanks, Cyra

I don't think shipping would be any problem with plants, but unrooted cuttings are another story, especially in summer heat. I'll peg down a few branches and see what happens... but just so you know, I haven't had a lot of luck propagating lavender or rosemary (some plants are just easier for me than others, *shrug*). It does have a very strong and wonderful scent, and the plants get huge!

Cyra,
I don't have enough of it to try anything with at this time...but if you're interested I'd be happy to find the mail order nursery I got 5 varieties from last year. They were very reasonable and the plants are blooming their heads off now!! :)
