I bought this plant a from HB a few months back. Is it a incurvula hoya? TIA,
Patti
Incurvula Hoya ?
I believe it is brevialata, similar to incurvula but there is some difference. I just got one too, it was one of the few EA hoyas that I had not come across till recently. Mine is doing great, I have it outside so that it will dry out quicker, and it has alot of new growth already - I also noticed that with all the direct morning sun, the leaves are really getting alot of silver specks.
Hi Bhavana. Is the blooms the difference between the Brevialata and Incurvula?
Patti
Patti, I think the difference is in the foliage, and is so subtle that probably only an expert would be able to tell them apart . There is alot written about them being the same plant...I am not positive but I think it was Chris Burton who determined they are not. She knows her hoyas, so I am likely to trust information that comes from her. I will see if I can remember where I read it and exactly what the differences were.
I do remember it being said in more than one place that it's an easy bloomer, I just got mine recently too so maybe we will see some flowers this summer in NJ and TX!
Carol showed some pics regarding the difference in foliage to brevialata compared with incurvula here in the plant files:

there you go, then! Incurvula has much smaller more rounded leaves.

Yea I think your right Bhavana I was hoping it was incurvula. Oh well, I will have fun looking for one. Thanks for your help Bhavana and Sandy.
Patti
You have a lovely plant either way Patti.....looks healthy and lush...
Sandy
:O) Thanks Sandy. You know you when it come to our hoya babies we can't pick favorites. LOL
Patti
YOu got that right!...must be like having kids, each have their own special quality and some make you want to pull your hair out.... :)

Patti can you check your brevailata and tell me if you have any browish patches on the undersides of any of your leaves? A few of the leaves on longer vined parts of mine do, I noticed them tonight when watering. It isn't affecting the front part of the leaves and doesn't appear to be any sort of insect, I was wondering if it is something normal for the variety.
thanks!
Hi Bhavana,
I checked the hoya today ,and I didn't see any brown patches on the underside of the leaf.

Bhavana34, I have a few of those brown patches on mine. I don't think it is anything to lose sleep over. It is probably all of the abuse these plants take in the shipping process. My plant is definitely healthy, and growing like crazy.
Ok, thanks to both of you! Mine looks pretty healthy as well, at first I thought maybe it was sunburn, but it is only getting an hour or so of morning sun... I think I worry too much about these Exotic Angel plants, always afraid I will wake up in the morning and find them dead!
