What is the difference,if any, among the EA Hoya Mini Green Leaf, Hoya Mini Waxleaf and Hoya Lacunosa? They all llook similar and the flowers just look like the Lacunosa.
I am aware of their history with mislabeling so I am just confused.
Thank you,
Elizabeth
What is the difference,if any, among the EA Hoya Lacunosa...
You are confused?? Join the club -
Will the real hoya lacunosa please stand up??
I don't believe EA has a plant called Hoya lacunosa, not even the REAL Hoya lacunosa, which they DO sell.
lacunosa - mini wax leaf
curtisii- stripes
longifolia - shamapry
compacta - regalis
multiflora - shooting stars
nummularioides - green leaf
polynuera - fishtail
DS 70 - bilobata
sulawesii - brevialata
and alot of carnosas under too many names to remember -
the only ones I have seen correctly labeled are linearis, australis, and kentiana - and a maybe one carnosa.

As far as I know....there are, perhaps 2 perhaps more, subspecies of H. lacunosa: ssp. lacunosa (fatter, shorter leaf, usually lighter green, not shiney leaves) and ssp. pallidaflora which has glabrous, dark green enlongated leaves. There are many clones and sports of them both...but they are simply H. lacunosa.
The three that looked the same were labeled as follows:
Mini Wax leaf sp. Hoya bella
Mini Greenleaf sp. Hoya carnosa
Hoya Wax leaf sp. Hoya lacunosa
Two have flowered with the same lacunosa flowers.
Hoya mini wax leaf and hoya mini greenleaf are what EA calls lacunosa. They seem to differ in texture a bit...one is more thick and waxy, and one is more paper thin. The second names (the "sp" you listed above, like bella, carnosa, and lacunosa, are just made up things...they even put bella or carnosa after the correctly named kentiana...not sure why they name the hoya twice....for example, the tag will read "hoya mini wax leaf" and then at the bottom will say "hoya carnosa"). It's really confusing!
Sounds like there is someone at EA 'playing horticulturalist'. Gotta admit their plants are beautiful!!!
