Need ID Fuzzy leaves.

in Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I bought this plant last year with a label of lipstick plant, and I don't believe it a lipstick plant , but I could be wrong. It's leaves are fuzzy, and it hasn't bloom yet .

Wow!

I am supposed to be working but I am lurking ;-)

Very nicely grown.

I put a columnea outside for the first time this year and it is loving it. I was stupid enough to put it in a window box with hardy plants so I will have to dig it up come winter....

I'm supposed to be getting ready to go "shopping" but I think I'm stuck in the chair..lol

I wonder about putting some BAT's granules on mine & sticking it out...I just don't want to have to Qtip the whole darn plant if it gets mealies...talk about lazy...

Quite honestly, I will probably dig up the one hardy plant as it is tuberous and shallow-rooted, and bring the entire box in in the winter. If I remember, I'll dose it with orthene first....

Bats sounds good, MsC.

I put my assumed-to-be Columnea outside. It has sat there like a bump on a log for 2 years, so I figured why not, it can't get much worse. Maybe if it will ever bloom we can figure out if it really is a Columnea. It has fuzzy leaves like your first one, Patti. Mine doesn't look anywhere near as beautiful as yours! Maybe being outside is the best for it. :o)

I've got to get some of those granules. Have the liquid, but it's a hassle. LOL

Thanks Lottie and Key, Rain for the wonderful comments. I can't wait to see them bloom.

Lottie, The covered deck was here when we moved here. I have it covered with 70% shade cloth too. My plants love it. Your variegated lipstick plant will love being outside Lottie. I am looking forward of seeing it bloom. They are awesome little plants.
My little buggah ( Patrick) is getting so big Lottie. He is going into first grade next year. It is amazing how time flies.
