I'm in love with my cranesbill Rozanne and I want more, but not just that one. I'd like some Bloody Cranesbill, Samobar, and Johnson's blue, and any other you might suggest.
I also want heucheras for a shady place, something with distintive leaves and bright flowers.
I have quite a few 3-4" pots of ajuga 'Chocolate Chip,"
Yarrows Coronation Gold and Moonbeam
Nepeta: Six Hills Giant
Coreopsis-Mayfield Giant for sure, others' tags faded, one CremeBrule for sure-gallons that likely need dividing
Glad corms, ready to grow, many colors, sorted and named
2-5 Calla Cameo tubers (they are nice, the ones I've planted are growing well, though slowly); will get planted soon.
Liatris spicata (2-four inch pots)
Herbs, oregano, garden sage, chocolate mint, pineapple mint.
Xenon sedum, well rooted cutting in a pot.
I can also just do postage for the cranesbill and heuchera.
Thank you!
Cranesbill, Heuchera, for Choc Chip, Glads, callas, other
Would love the creme brulee, and am interested in the xenon sedum, the chocolate mint & pineapple mint . I have the following for trade:
* Heuchera 'ebony & ivory' - 1 gallon
* Heucherella not sure if 'kimono' or 'neon light' - 3 small plants (they are growing together in a 1 1/2 gallon pot so not sure exactly how big they are)
* Heuchera 'amethyst myst' - 3 qt size
* Heuchera 'regina' - gal size
* Heuchera 'velvet night' - 3 inch pot size
Let me know as soon as possible. I am shipping another trade tomorrow and would be convenient to do both.
Thanks,
Felisa
Cool - I'll have to look them up.
frahnzone5, I can fit all your desires into a flat rate box - can you do the same for the last three heucheras and consider it a good trade?
Yes. I will ship amethyst mist, regina and velvet night tomorrow morning.
Thanks,
Felisa
I'll do my very best to do the same! Oh wait-it's Saturday-no hours at the PO-will have to be Monday. :-)
Anyone with cranesbill, now that the heuchera is so nicely, PERFECTLY, arranged? :-)
ooooeeeee! Thank you, Felisa!
I have some Cranesbill, no clue what kind. Can you post a pic of yours?
xxx, Carrie
Here's my Rozanne http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/57636/index.html
This is Bloody Cranesbill http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/199/index.html
Samobor http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/49963/index.html
I'm interested in any of them.
Well I'm sure I don't have the first one or the third, so maybe what I have is the second or some totally different fourth type! It looks a lot like the second, and it's blooming now.
Will the Nepeta totally take over my one tiny garden plot [now that I finally got all the moonbeam coreopsis out]?
xxx, Carrie
probably.
hi
I've never done this before, but I am about to severely cut back my cranesbill. They do a little too well for me here. I'd love to send them somewhere they'll be loved. I've got "Max Frei" and a pale pink one with reddish veins. I can get the name off the tag tomorrow when it's daylight.
I'd be happy to send you some, but I will need some instructions on how to dig and pack them to mail them to you. I'd be interested in a calla lily if that would work for you?
Sure, that would be great, susybell! There is a sticky at the top of the plant trading forum to show how to pack. As far as digging - well, I'm not a "real" gardener, I play in the dirt (with good results). Some plants I shrink right in the ground, some I dig completely and replant after reducing them....
Perennial forum folks will know what to do...I lurk there and learn.
Also, the postage, if all you are interested in is the Calla Cameo, of which would send at least three, are from the Blooming Bulb coop I did a while back, will be lopsided. Your end could be heavier, depending on how you pack. Is there anything else you want or have? I always like to do flat rate for flat rate - I pack a mean flat rate box! lol-had one that was 12 pounds, once. :-)
Frahnzone5, I won't get your package sent until Wednesday. I have to go to town today and work tomorrow, so I can't get them nicely packed and to the PO in time for pick-up at 3:30. It should get to you by Saturday.
I've read the "how to pack" sticky. I think I can do this without too much trouble. I could ship these pretty much any day this week.
I didn't notice that you had liatris also. I've never tried growing those-that could be fun!
I absolutely don't want any mint or ajuga-I don't suppose you'd want any lemon balm, would you? ;)
Otherwise, I don't mind if this is lopsided. I'd feel awful if what I sent you didn't do well because I'm such a newbie at this and you'd sent me tons of stuff that thrived.
I'll go and read the tags and let you know what the pink one is.
I looked up my pink cranesbill. It's Bloody Cranesbill, "Geranium sanguineum striatum", also called "G.s. lancastriense" in my garden book. It's really well-behaved and cute. The other is Geranium sanguineum "Max Frei" and looks just like your second picture. It's a little "looser" growing and gets taller.
Laura, I didn't know you were interested in the hardy geraniums. I did several trades a couple weeks ago and got several. Also, I received Geranium 'Jester's Jacket' seed in a trade last winter. I held my breath as one seed germinated and began to grow. It is now planted in the garden and doing well. It has the coolest leaves.
One you might want to think about is Geranium pratense 'Midnight Reiter'. I got this one in a coop last year. It barely survived the winter, but is blooming now and looks great. I have it in full sun so it is keeping its purple leaves very nicely.

Suzybell,
Could you spare some more of your pink Geranium sanguineum striatum ?
And 4paws, I can send you bloody cranesbill. BUT I have to do it the last week on June.
xx, Carrie
Hi Carrie,
Maybe. I'll have to take a look at how big the plant is when I'm in the yard. What is a normal amount to send someone? It's really too bad. Last week I had two pink ones and I dug one up and pitched it. Wish I'd realized sooner that someone wanted it. :( I hate killing plants even when they aren't working for me.
4paws, I'm not sure what's next. Are you still interested? These are actually pretty tough. I was pretty rough on one last year and both halves came back and bloomed this spring.
Yep, Suzy, I am. I just didn't get back to DG last night. I'll dmail you after today (very busy days, these Tuesdays) and make arrangements. :-)
Thank you!
Too, another day. I just started falling for them, and wanted a couple more to fill in some gaps and see if they will do well. Anything purple...wow! The daylilies you sent me are getting big in their pots - if I have to move, they are coming with me (5 gallon size).
4paws, sounds good. I'll wait to hear from you. It's looking like the soonest I could ship this would be Thursday. I'm thinking that maybe I should wait until Monday so it doesn't sit somewhere, although it shouldn't take anything I send you very long. Let me know what you'd prefer.
Suzy,
Usually I send a tiny clump with some roots wrapped with very wet paper towels. Don't bother sending dirt!
LMK.
xxx, Carrie
I prefer to give/get more than a "tiny clump without dirt," because I want to be sure it lives, which is why I send flat rate with the whole pots most of the time, though yarrow and nepeta I wrap in slightly moist newspaper; depends on the plant. Half gallon juice boxes have worked really nicely for protection, and three fit in a flat flat rate box, with all sorts of add-in possibilities. There are lots of good ways to the same end.
4paws,
I've gotten enormous plants with dirt that haven't lived! And little cuttings, no roots, wrapped up in paper towels that have become beautiful, huge, and healthy. I agree, though, knowing that you're sending a live plant is absolutely a plus.
xxx, Carrie
Carrie, I'm probably not a good enough gardener to get the itty bitties to make it-unless I don't want them to-lol. Plus, I'm concerned about heat at this time of year. There is also the challenge factor of how much I can get in a box.
FRAHN! oh my The heuchera are lovely, and everything went in the ground last night. I have to go out of town for a couple of days, so I'm happy they were waiting at the PO.
Also, Frahn and Suzy, I have to wait to send my side of the trades on Tuesday. I got called to work yesterday, so it was much too late to get them packed and to the po....I apologize for the delay.
Frahn, I also have some coreopsis grandiflora, if that interests you, and some mixed purple tulip bulbs.
4Paws, not a problem-thanks for letting me know. :)
