NH intown wildlife gardener

Milton, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone,
I've been reading over a bunch of threads and decided to join Daves Garden as I've found a lot of helpful ideas and received a lot of helpful ideas already. I would love to hear from others! Our recently bought intown property has pro's & cons. First the pro's: established plants forsythia (nice thicket for critters), maple, beech (I'm not sure), lilacs, yews, raspberries, hostas, firebush, lawn and other dec. bushes and perennials I haven't yet ID'D. So I've got a good beginning for wildlife with shelter and food. We also have a great view of Salmon Falls Dam. Cons: On a slope. Invasive Chinese Lantern (cool plants but have completely taken over the veggie garden.) Invasive staghorn sumac (may not be my shrub & the birds were feeding on the seeds this march.) Surrounded by asphalt (winter road salt) on three sides. As for wildlife, I want to attract birds, squirrels & chipmonks, toads. I don't mind the others, either. Also I'm trying to keep it as native as possible. Any ideas? Pass them along. I can't wait to get my pictures up. I'm learning to garden and uplink at the same time!

Welcome sarahn,
HERBIE is right, we're all out playing in the garden. I also garden for "wildlife" on a suburban property. The forums I've found most helpful are: Indigenous Plants
Invasive Plants
Gardening for Wildlife
Cottage Gardening - there a quite a few threads on prairie and eco friendly gardening
