Hello to all. This is my first post, long time reader though. I'm very happy to have found this place. I enjoy gardening, it's been an on/off hobby with me. I enjoy all aspects of gardening especially flowering plants. I recently found this odd colored hibiscus at a local Home Depot. I know it is a tropical hibiscus. But, what the heck is it?..looks strange, yet pretty. I had to get it since it was by far the oddest looking hibiscus I have ever seen. :)

Looks like maybe an Antique Treasure to me, but I'm definitely not an expert.

Antique treasure it is.... rare find for a Homely Depot.Usually most of the hibiscus at ours die too quickly to tell what they are!! LOL

Thank you amarantha00...I think that is what it is. I "googled" Antique Treasure and hibiscus" and one of the first results was this website...Davesgarden.
The picture on the buttom of the page by CalifSue is very similar if not almost exact to mine. Thanks! Here is the link I found..................... Wooohoo, finally my Hibiscus has a name. :)

Thanks for the welcome Eclipse. Yeah, Home Depot usually does not have variety. I could not resist this one though.

That's awesome that you found it at Home Depot, I sure would have snapped that one up too. 99.999% of the time our HD's in So Cal only have plain garden varieties, and mostly they are half dead from lack of water and attention. Whenever I purchase a plant at HD or one of our supermarkets, I call it a "rescue", as I've rescued the poor little plant from its most certain imminent demise ;-)

Welcome to the world of hibiscus junkies!

I've found wonderful Hibiscus at our local Home Depot in St. Petersburg. Nice store too. Everyone very helpful and friendly.

Home Depots in Florida are nice stores? with helpful friendly people?? Can I send our Home Depots to Florida to take some lessons, lol??

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

The people here are friendly too, they just don't know what things are or that they need water every day! LOL

they are green aphids, can wash them off with a spray of just water or use a houseplant spray with pyrethrum in it. They multiply fast. Kinda like monthly bills..... ;-)

The Home Depot had various "exotic" hibiscus when I got this one. The tag on my hibiscus reads, "Zoe's Tropicals". I guess they have an account with them. They had other exotic Hibiscus with the tag. Very nice. I think they were $24.99 a bit pricey but worth it. I have yet to plant it, it's still in a pot. I hate digging here in S Florida. It is pure limestone.

the whole state of Florida is an old coral reef from millions of years ago.thats why all the limestone.

I saw this thumbnail and instantly knew it was Antique Treasure! My image makes me sad though as it was one I lost to the frost. :-(
