These chicks belong to mama silkie number 1, my first white silkie to raise her babies. They are rotten, LOL. Mama silkie decided to go broody again and her kids run wild, we have to catch them every night to put in the coop, they don't go in on there own anymore.
Chicks are growing up
The queens are at it again, they want more chickys, well not this time. We have 9 babies this year and thats enough. I am giving some of the hens and babies to my aunt. They decided they liked my chickens so they are in the process of building a coop. Next year I want to purchase new silkie stock instead of raising my own.
When the coop is finished I'll get pictures of my Americana chicks, they are so beautiful. And I also need to get pictures of my little black chicks we bought at the auction. I think a couple of them are going to be barred rocks, I'm excited about that. Now if they are hens and not roo's, LOL.
Great looking silkies! They are such lil characters! We just (mostly) finished our coop I have to build perchs and nestboxes. What size are your silkie boxes?
What beautiful birds you have!!!
I love the colors. Silkies are my favorites,(right after cochin bantys).
My black silkie is in the process of hatching today, so far she has
2 hatched. I also have 2 white silkies setting, and 2 japanese, and
6 cochin bantys and 1 oegb, and as of today i think another black
silkie is going to set. I also have 2 incubators going. I just love hatching out peeps.
We sell a lot of chickens, so i get to do a lot of hatching.

Your black silkie is beautiful, I don't have black, mine were from a mixed batch and we hatched 2 white, one with the blue beak the other was yellow, 1 splash, 1 white/buff mixed, she's a silly girl. And the rest are a greyish/black, but no pure black. I don't know how my one baby ended up being reddish in color, I hope its a girl, LOL. I'll try to get a picture and post a close up.
I have a little blue old english game bird now sitting on eggies, I couldn't find her yesterday and last night me and dh looked everywhere for her, here she's was sitting on a pile of eggs behind the nest box. I guess she wants peace from the other girls and decided to hide. Dh took out 5 of the eggs and left her with 2, she couldn't cover all her eggies and most were cold. She's the sweetest little hen I have, we love her.

Tracey, they are wonderful, have fun, waiting and watching, and E did a great job marking them, the ameraucana chicks will be beautiful.
Cathy
Tracey,
I love your variety of eggs.
Do you use marker on your eggs? I was told to use only pencil, but marker would be so much easier to see if it does'nt hurt the hatching.
lynda.
Hey Lynda, I used a water color marker,Non-toxic! It worked really good!
Cathy,
Thank you they will be pretty neat to see when hatching..
Eufaula did do a great job marking the eggys. She's a very
nice lady and I would help her out any time and also you too..
