Something evergreen in planters

Looking for an idea to plant in permanent brick planters that are on either side of the entrance area of a ranch style house. 3 1/2 ft high and about 18" wide planting area. & about 3 1/2 ft long from the side of the house. Helping a relative clean up his yard w/ low maintenance plants. Gets sun til about 1 pm.
