Hummer Photo

Freeport, IL

The past few years we have tried to attract hummers with no success - but less than 2 weeks ago we put up a new feeder and I'm pleased to report the hummers are plentiful! I just love "trying" to photograph them! My camera is now no more than an arm's lengthy away from the patio door!

ChefzMom - That's really something that they started coming when you changed feeders. I've tried everything ..... and I do mean EVERYTHING short of purchasing one on ebay to release in my garden! lol

Congrats! Enjoy them for those of us who can't seem to attract them to our own yards. :-)

BTW - What species of hummer is it? Just curious. It doesn't look like a Ruby Throat. But hey, what do I know?! :-}

I could be wrong, but I believe it's a female Ruby-Throat. Feel free to correct me, experts. :)

Male Ruby-Throats have a, well, ruby throat. Females do not. Females generally are never as colorful as the males among hummingbirds.

Clapping my hands for your new visitors! Aren't hummers great!
Beckygardener, if I could I'd trade you a hummer for some swallowtails.
