suggestions for shrubs, perennials deer do not prefer

Hi, am writing for a friend who is trying to landscape a front hillside with shrubs and perennials that like some shade and that deer do not prefer (note prefer, i know they will ultimately eat pretty much anything if they are hungry)

or if there is a forum or thread on deer resistant plans, please point me that way.
