They're hereeeeeeee....woo hoo

Klamath Falls, OR(Zone 6b)

Got my first brugs today. As you can see in the pic they are soaking in a bucket of warm water right now. They lost quite a few leaves in transit, but I think they look like they have enough to do alright. What do you think? The yellow tag is the Dr. Seuss and the other is Ver. Peach.

Bonnie,

They both look great. Your care will pay off. Congratulations!

They do look great. Now the addiction starts if it hasn't already.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Enjoy! These two are great plants and you'll love watching their growth!
When they start showing root growth, transfer them into good potting soil.
You shouldn't have any problems, just don't over water them.
I know a few other Bonnies who are seriously addicted to this plant! Ha!

Congrats Bonnie! That is so exciting.. I'm happy for you. Dr Suess has a fragrance that will knock your socks off! There is no turning back now... LOL

they do look very healthy.. won't be long until they are growing and you are looking to expand your collection.

Bonnie I recieved a brug once that was bare root and stuck it in some water. Soon I noticed it didnt look happy and a friend told me the roots were dirt roots and that i needed to put the brug in dirt instead of water. As soon as it went in dirt the plant perked right up. If yours has roots from dirt then after a good drink you may want to pot them right up.

There's soil in that pot, so I'm guessing that they have roots. Good advice Delisa.

Klamath Falls, OR(Zone 6b)

Thanks Delisa. Yes, I soaked them a couple hrs. and now they are potted. They haven't even been outside yet. We've had such yucky weather and freezing nights the last 2 days, so they're sitting in my craft room in front of the window. It's supposed to start warming up again tomorrow. Maybe I can let them out during the day and bring them in at night until the temps warm up.

Hi Bonnie
Welcome first of all. Happy to see another Oregonian here enjoying Brugs.
I also hope the weather warms up. It's on the cool side not freezing like you but cool.
Looks like you have some good brugs to get that addiction going!!! LOL
Have fun sounds like your being a good Brug Mom already...

Thanks Kin. I lost a couple more leaves and I removed one that was broken and torn from the trip. So far they seem to be perking up. I assume this is normal transition, but you know what assume means ;)

Remember not to water till you see new growth. They are fussy about getting too water logged after a long trip or major change in their environment.
Don't worry over them too much... trust me, that's usually a death sentence! Put em where they will get sun and you can't see them for a few days, convince yourself "They are just another plant".. you will be amazed at how fast they will snap out of it.

Klamath Falls, OR(Zone 6b)

Thanks ZZ. I always feel like a mother hen whenever I get new plants...lol Our daytime temps are now in the high 60's to 70's, but the nighttime temps are still to close to freezing for comfort. So, they'll be in and out until I'm sure it's not going to freeze. I'm so tired of this weather! I've tried to put in annuals 3 or 4 times already only to have them freeze the next night or 2. I told DH if the wants annuals he's going to have to do it. I'm sticking with trees, shrubs, and bulbs!!! Other than that, it's containers for me. Hummmm, maybe it's a control issue. Mother Nature isn't cooperating with me right now...lol

Well, I was going to yell help until I realized it's only been a week...seems like it should be longer. I was concerned that my pots were staying too wet. I watered them in when I potted them up. I also put poly batting in the bottom instead of rocks or anything. I haven't watered them since and the soil is still damp. I was afraid the pots weren't draining so I poked holes in the batting..lol. My babies seem to be doing ok. No dropped leaves and I see new little leaves starting. It hasn't been real warm here lately and when it is the wind blows like h---. So, they are staying in. My question is, should I leave them alone and keep watching, or repot them?
Mother Hen,
Bonnie

I just planted in the ground a plant that had the poly batting in the bottom. The roots were growing right through it with no problem... very pretty white thick roots too.
