how long for lousianna iris to bloom

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

i got these lousianna iris last year in a trade and love them but they won't bloom for me. they are huge and have made many many fans. they are in a pot in a inground pond. my poor pond is drying up but they iris are staying moist. here is a picture of both pots of them. when should these bloom for me? they are yellow flag irs. the pot is usually underwater but we are in a major drought

Flag iris and Lousiana iris are two different kinds. If they're flag iris they should bloom in the early spring (not sure about Lousiana iris).

Is there any way to get the lilies out? You could put them in a big tub of water while you are having water use issues to keep them going. I have the yellow bog iris and they seem to grow well just about anywhere. Did not see very many blooms this year. We warmed up a bit and then had bitterly cold weather (in single digits at times) for a while and that froze and killed a lot of my flower buds. Is it possible that is what happened to yours too?

My Louisiiana Iris did not bloom this year due to the late freeze. For me they usually bloom from the middle of April to mid-May. I get more blooms when they are not in the pond but planted in the ground and I have noticed that if I get a year with heavy blooming they seem to take a break the next year.

we had the warming and then late freezing as well here. i bet that is what happened to mine as well. thanks so much! i haven't even thought of that. i have thought of getting a kiddie pool and placing the water lilies in it. we are on complete outdoor watering ban right now. i wish i had done this earlier.

I only had one bloom on about 40 very large clusters of iris, all different colors and varieties. It's very disappointing, I was hoping for waves of color, but now am tempted to pull them all out and replace them with something else.

Do they have to be a certain "age" or less crowded, or more settled, or.....? Anybody know of anything in particular about them?
