Hi everyone,
Just registered and wanted to tell you about myself.
I love chickens. I have several different breeds, including, but not limited to:
Barred rocks, Dominiques, cochins (large and banty), Silkies (white, black, buff and blue), Old english game bantys (BB red and Crele), Black tailed white Japanese and white leghorns.
Also 2 tom turkeys, a pair of guinis and a pair of white tufted ducks.
And a small goat with a new baby.
I love to talk about my chickens.

Welcome Lynda, I gotta admit my banty cochins are my favorites, they just look to cute. I just got my chicks in April so they are still babies. I only have them and a couple of Americauna's. I tell my little sister all the time you do not need prozac you just need a couple of chickens..........they are soooooooo calming, after work I let them out to free range and try to do a little gardening but I end up just watching them & laughing.........lets see a pic of your baby goat.....plz

Ohh yes Welcome Lynda!!! Your Flock is almost identical to mine!!!! I dont have any Guineas yet and No ducks...........Yet!!! LOL!
I used to have Goats but , neighbor dogs meant haveing to keep them too confined ,so I let a friend have them that could keep them safe on a large acred farm!
As you can tell we love our Chickens and other feathered family here, as well as animals in general! Never think a question is silly!!! WE all have the same Q's and someone always has an answer or a link to help out!
We think our pictures of our babies are the cutest on the web, so please show us yours!!!!

What a cutie! Welcome I am Lora from New Hampshire, a newbie to fowl. I hatched 4 silver sebrights, 11 assorted colored silkies and I have about 16 colored guineas in the incubator. I bought 10 guinea chicks (4 are leaving this weekend to a new home), 6 maran hens, one maran rooster, 4 silver sebrights and 4 red silkies. I am going to give away/trade/sell down to what I want to keep for silkies/sebrights/guineas. I also have 12 macaws, four cockatoos, 3 1/2 cats (one is on his way home to his maker old age) 2 papillon/chih mix dogs and some south american cichlid fish and a bearded dragon, oh and a husband! And I almost forgot 3 baby lovies that hopefully will be weaned out soon so they can go to thier permanent homes.
I was hoping to get some blue or blue splash silkies but I didn't. I LOVE those. Next year that what I am going to hatch plus some others that people here have and I LOVE.
Good Luck with you crew!
Lora
See, now there are two of us in NH. You should all really come up here and join the party! and meet presidential candidates! :)
Welcome Lyn. Can you tell me about blue silkies? I think I have two. How does the whole breeding thing work, % of offspring colorwise, do you know? ( I know how the actual breeding works!)
I don't have any pics of the blue silkies yet, will try to get some soon.
I don't know much about the %, I'm mating a blue splash roo with a white hen and getting blue offspring.
I'm also mating a blue partridge roo (cochins), to a partridge hen and getting an assortment of colors, including blue.
Here is a pic of the blue cochin babies.(i hope)
