What's the trick?

I'm having the worst time getting parsley seeds to germinate. Is there a trick to it,I'm missing?

The seeds are sooo small. If they get rained on or watered from above, the seeds may go too deep. Have you tried chilling seed first? I planted Par-Cel after chilling they came up fine. Perhaps someone else may have a clue. Sorry... pod

I've got them in pots in the greenhouse. They were pre-chilled then sewn on top on mix and covered lightly w/ a med. grade vermucilte.I water from above w/ mist slection on sprayer. Maybe I'm expecting them to pop up as quick as they tomato and dill seed I planted at the same time.

Thanks pod

Red ~ one of my books says these will be easy if you soak the hard seeds in warm water for several hours before planting. Or freeze seeds in ice cubes ~ 2 or 3 seeds to a cube. Just push the frozen cubes in the ground and tamp thoroughly. Keep moist till germination. Says it should take "just a few days". Hmmpf! LOL

Apparently there is an old saying that parsley must go to the devil and back seven times before germinating. Sounds like you might agree... : )

Relax, gardening is supposed to be fun.Parsley is always slow to germinate.I have grown them all. Inside under lights and out doors direct sow.Plant it and they will grow. There is no trick. The watched kettle
never boils.

edge,
I've been too busy the passed two days to "watch the pot" maybe they've come up. To look or not to look...that is the question...LOL
