Where did you get or find the first picture? The second picture is a var. macrorrhizos which i have and are hard to keep alive even in a greenhouse over winter in our zone. Most of mine that do live are very small are they revert back to all green. jerry

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

TXbigLeaves, I have a macrorrhizos and it will revert to green if I give it fertilizer. Also I have trouble with the plant getting smaller over the winter, but, it always regrows over summer. It doesn't make a bulb (or tuber) like many alocasia. If it gets smaller over winter it takes a long time to recover when it gets warm again. I have almost lost mine a couple of times. It loves water, but for me, it grows just as fast with or without fertilizer.

dale_ a _ gardener, My variegated do the exact same thing. Strange the solid green leaf ones do so much better. I have some with trunks 4 to 5 feet tall wintered in greenhouse. Have some planted ground that keep coming back for over 10 years now. jerry
