Amorphophallus miracle

I had bought an amorph. Titanum during the winter and it rotted from the bulb up. out of frustration i just put it in a cup of water and left it alone to die, but a few days ago i looked at it and it had several good size bulbs, along with a root system. so i planted it in a hurry. Has any one else seen the same thing happen?
