Though all I had was my cell phone camera, I did catch this male anole doing his little push-ups and puffing up his throat (throat fan) all red as he challenged -- apparently -- me. There were no other lizards in sight, and he began doing this when I approached. Word has it male anoles aren't afraid to trash talk the occasional human nearby.
Today in my garden, it's not only flowers that are blooming. Look at the bloom on that throat!
(He's on top of the fence, above the flowers.)

Visiting Garden Critters
Your camera caught enough of the anole to see the puffed throat. Great. I love to watch all the critters that come to the yard. Well, not all. Water moccasin are not welcome.
Yeah, I put out some bait for the subterrainean critters munching on my irises this weekend. But I had a great time watering the verbena this morning watching this really huge butterfly (the name swallowtail came to mind, though I don't know for sure) kept me company. I need to keep a camera with me when I go out there.
Oh that's awesome -- much better than my cell phone shot. Cracks me up, these froward little guys. :-D
I just saw one of those in my garden. Thanks for educating me. I was calling it a gecko!
They are happy mosquito-eaters, so I welcome them with open arms. :-)
I have geckos but would love to introduce the anole as well. When I worked in East Dallas they seemed to be everywhere. Lucky you.
We have them year round, but they are particularly plentiful now. Post-rainy-season (are we post yet?) it must be insect buffet time for the average lizard. Two of them postured at each other (and at me) up a magnolia tree yesterday.
Mosquito eaters!!! Can not have enough of those!!
