Me again....
We're getting rain every day here, I have been putting the plummies in the garage but am wondering if I really have to...can they handle a few days of rain or will they rot?
Another worry wart question......
They are supposed to like a lot of water. Aren't yours in well-draining medium? If they are in standing water they should be OK (tell me I'm right please Clare, mine is outside in the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry right now....).
They are in well draining soil....The seedlings I'm not so much worried about, more so the 2 cuttings I have rooting........
How warm is it there? I too have kept mine out in this last rain...I dont' have saucers under them and the soil IS fast draining...but again all of mine have roots.
Oh Clare?!?
it's been in the high 60's, low 70's.......supposed to go down to the mid 40's the next few days then I'll bring them in the house...but for now....????
Beverly, I think you meant "if they aren't in standing water, they should be okay"; right? In other words, if they aren't standing in a puddle of water, they should be fine.
Chantell was right to ask the temperature question.
Cold/wet = bad
Warm or hot/wet = good
This applies to rooted plants; however, cuttings that are being rooted are best kept above 50, and ideally, they should have root zones in the 80's at all time until they have roots. Cuttings that are wet and allowed to have root zone temps in the 40's could conceivably rot. Plumerias tend to love rain as long as the temps stay fairly warm.
Both Beverly and Chantell have it right that your plumerias need a well-draining medium;-) See, I've rubbed off on you guys!
Yepp--what Clare said!
Brad
...and it's only taken a year...LOL. Clares a great teacher...patience beyond what I could show!!
Yes meant should not be standing in water but water should be draining out.
LOL, guys! Beverly, you just accidentally left off the "n't," but I knew what you meant.
