Thanks for the blooms, I really liked the double red.

:~)

Looks like the plant is wearing a corsage. I just noticed the spider who jumped in to have his pic taken. They're such show offs around here. lol They hang out on my shoulders when I work in my iris bed. BF says it's a good thing that I'm not afraid of them.

Very pretty, thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!! That double red is awesome. Does it have a name? Please share where you found it. I've only seen single ones. Thanks for posting.

I get most of mine from local groceries, Home Depot or Lowes. I think that I rescued this from Krogers. They were trying to "wean" it from water. Every now and again they get really nice plants and this was one of them. I got a red single red variegated leaf one from them as well.

Very pretty. I like the way you keep them short and compact.

uh well, I can't really say that's true. I had a problem with most of my hibiscus last year, I lost most of them, I don't know why. The ones in the picture are all new. I only have about 5 of the original 15 or so that I had last year. When I first move here in October of 2004 I had over 30 tropical hibiscus. It was a bad time in my personal life and I didn't take care of them. Of that group I only have one left. That is a red capitalio that has something wrong with it but bless it's little red heart it's trying to hang in. If I could just figure out what's wrong with it.
But I do like to plant other things in with them. The ice plants make good companion plants and the alyssum and seems to be happy sharing as well. I just put some blue daze in with my sick capitalio maybe it's just lonesome, lol. I've tried everything else.

Thanks, AuntAnne
I guess I'm just not in the right place at the right time.

I picked up a double red one called 'Celia Double Red' from Home Depot last year, if you keep your eye out there you get lucky sometimes!

yeah actually I think that's what this is. I just got back from Kroger's and they have the red and the peach double. Lacewing if you want driving instructions to College Station Texas I'll send 'em. lol

Discovery Bay, CA(Zone 9b)

Saw the double peach at Lowe's during a lunch errand today. Car was full or I would have snapped it up! Price was right too, I think it was $20 for a 3 gal tree.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

yeah that's how much Kroger wants for their trees also. I'm sooooo tempted.

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

Those are beautiful. No Kroger here but I'll have to keep a closer watch at Home Depot.

Kroger goes by many names, out here they're Ralphs, and I'm sure they have other names in other parts of the country. Ralphs prices are outrageous so I don't shop there, but I've seen hibiscus at other grocery stores around here so I'd check your local ones whatever chain they are, you never know what you'll find!

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes, Home Depot and Lowes have them.
